Ponds!

When we bought this lovenest I was dreaming of hobbyfarming and the kids running around doing all the fun outside things.

Part of this dream was a pond. Less bucket hauling to the barn for me ( yay!) and pond frolicking activities for all!

Goldfish , frogs and toads, spring peepers , newts and salamanders, crazy huge weird beetles, dragonflies and waterskippers. And the eggs they all produce!
We found a natural spring in the hillside, did a little excavation and in the words of Desmond Tutu "hey presto" we have a year round pond. Natural flow from the mountain, cool crisp water, and out into the ditch making more room.

The kids love a special bedtime 🌙 involving the pond life. We watched the mating rituals of toads last night in the rainy drizzle at around 9pm.
There were 6 males competing for a lone female, and one frog trying to protect his territory ( or get them to be quiet, the noise is wild! )
We found a single peeper , which was very fun because we watched a few emerge from the leaflitter just a week or so ago during a different nighttime romp.

We came in blissed out from the adventure and sipped up some hot chocolate..
I make our own mix with cocoa, cane sugar and organika keto MCT coconut powder. So yummy , especially after playing in the nighttime rain.
